Here’s how it works!
- Each term of the Luminary Lab is 7 weeks of 90 minute sessions, limited to 9 members!
- Our focus is on contemporary styles (pop, rock, jazz, musical theatre, folk, hip-hop, etc), vocal technique and navigating any other voice-related adventures. From singers and songwriters to speakers and curious glimmers, if it involves your voice, it has a home in the Lab.
- As this is a masterclass-style course, each member will take turns sharing their song or project for the group and receiving feedback and technical/artistic support from Coach Courtney! This means everyone will have two ~20 minute “Luminary Spotlights” of focused coaching live in front of our small group – one in the first half of the term, one in the second half. This is a coaching hybrid that’s personalized to you as an individual, while also providing a safe space to be heard by a group that deeply cares and applauds your breakthroughs. Every session begins and ends with time for Q&A, discussion and additional opportunities for connection and exploration! (P.S. there’s no stress – Spotlights will be scheduled in advance so you can prepare for your specific dates!)
- On the weeks that you aren’t in the “spotlight,” you’ll not only have the opportunity to share your progress and participate in group activities, but you’ll discover even more about the voice and creative process through active modeling, observational learning and witnessing each others’ unique experiences. In the Lab, you are developing a diagnostic ear. You’ll learn how to identify vocal shifts in others, which is an incredible way to master your own voice.
- While your initial commitment is just for one 7-week term, the Lab is ongoing (with natural breaks for holidays, etc, of course.) We’d love for you to consider this your consistent creative home and keep your spot in the Lab for as long as it serves you.
- A Note on Our Space: While the Lab is a place for brave work and vocal growth, it’s also intended to be a restorative anchor for your week – a steady, predictable rhythm for your voice in a challenging world. Singing is fantastic for regulating the nervous system – it’s a reminder that your voice has your back, and so do we!

- A private WhatsApp group for accountability and support each week…
- A recording of each Lab will be made available only to the small group (password protected for privacy) for 7 days following each session…

Open to awesome adults of all voice levels, from young professionals to retirees
It’s recommended that you feel relatively comfortable matching pitch, singing to an instrumental/karaoke track (or self-accompaniment) and using technology (Zoom, YouTube, streaming, etc).
While live performance is encouraged, you may feel more comfortable playing a recording of yourself during your Spotlight and receiving feedback on your track… A great idea! Regardless, remember that this time is your playground – you can use it for song performance, creative ideas or even exercises and ‘vocal troubleshooting’ in a low-pressure environment that benefits everyone. (And P.S. We are introvert-friendly!)
As sharing our voices can be a challenging and vulnerable process, an enthusiasm for lifting and celebrating your fellow Seadragons is required.

Ready to GLOW in the Luminary Lab?
Payment & Schedule
- The Luminary Lab is once a week at the same time each week for seven consecutive weeks.
- Payment in full, or the first month’s payment, is due at the time of sign-up in order to reserve your spot in the Lab. Payment is made through automatic online billing via Square. A payment method on file with Seadragon Songhouse is required.
- For members paying monthly, the first payment is due at time of sign-up (or 7 days prior to the start of the term for repeat participants) and the second payment will be processed 4 weeks from the first session.
- For repeat participants, billing takes place 7 days prior to the start of the next term, unless a payment plan is agreed upon in writing. Monthly installments are billed every 3-4 weeks as it aligns with each term schedule.
- A receipt listing the upcoming schedule will be emailed with your payment confirmation.
Attendance
- Due to demand, the full payment for the term is required regardless of the number of sessions you plan to attend. Refunds are not offered for missed sessions.
- Please contact us and let us know in advance of any absences so we can plan accordingly (you will be missed!)
- Please make every effort to arrive on time – and to attend each session in order to support your fellow members.
- Your spot in the Luminary Lab is automatically renewed and reserved for you each term. Please inform us in writing 14 days before the start of the upcoming term should you wish to cancel.
- The Luminary Lab is year-round with natural breaks for holidays, etc. If you take a break and do not wish to pay to reserve your spot, your spot will be given to another client. Availability is limited, but every effort will be made to fit you back into the schedule upon your return.
- In the rare circumstance that Courtney has to cancel a session, the session will be rescheduled, a pro-rated credit will be added to a future invoice, or a substitute “special guest” coach will be made available.
